Fast galloping white and dark horses seen from the bus.
After Salt Lake City and Denver I traveled north to end in Chicago.
In a small town I wanted to eat. I got sausages with a cup of "coffee".
But the coffe was syrup and supposed to be eaten with the sausages.
The journey went through "Finnish" forests. It was saturday and smokes
from Finnish saunas rose to the calm sky. Different were the small
steep mountains in the forests.

The lonely Finnish emigrant. See the sauna and the shed for firewood.
The photo is full of feelings. Never to be forgotten. What happened to them?

The bus was a local bus, and the driver did not know the route.
In one town, with street names only in German, he ended in a dead end.

In one town there was a tourist bus going to the Badlands. They are small
mountains from clay shaped to fantastic forms by the very rare rains.
The soil is full of bones from dinosaurs.

On the way to the Badlands the bus passed a nuclear bomb silo. It was within ten meters from the road. For my safety I did not take any photo of it.
We passed Watertown and Milwaukee. From Watertown I got after the war a parcel
with gifts from Nancy de la Winge. With a photo of her and her parents. The name I
always remember. She was at that time a child. What happened to her later?
Driving on the enormous motor road the bus arrives in Chicago.
Suddenly it puts all breaks on and goes up a short ramp. And we
are on a street. Around the next corner is the bus station.

I visited the Marina Towers. There you have a car parked on floor five, live on
floor twentyfive and have your boat at the bottom floor in the river. All kind of
services are connected to the house. One apartment was for tourists. At the
bottom floor was also Design Center, like in Helsinki. The so typical balconies
are useless. They are cold and windy. Nobody uses them.
Look, there is the Finnish flag on the street.
