At first I made a trip to Boston to see my friend David Height.
I have not got any contact with him later. He worked with me
in Finland.
David showed me the university and the city. He had brought
a small sailing boat to Boston from Finland.
He showed me how an architect had changed profession and
was selling long breads at the entrance to the underground.
The breads were called u-boats and you could chose from
many kind of dressings. There were also pizas sold in the
streets. The bread was paper thin and could have different
dressings.

As young student he had
worke at an architecture
office that planned the

They made him
responsible for all the
constructions as he
had no money.

Some friend of Johan lived in a service house.
At the bottom floor was any kind of services.
The corridor mat just continued into the apartments.
People had too little to do. One activity was to exchange
wifes. Children normally were laying on the floor watching TV.
There was nature very near and the boys brought home
items like snakes.

When the bus went moore south, there were
houses by black people. They sat at the porches
inside a rusty mosquito net. It was evening and
the bus continued.
At a small busstation in the darknes there was as follows.
All black people were in a small dark room.
In the waiting hall sat white people.
There were several local white people with riffles
guarding that no black came into the waiting hall.
Ouside were polices guarding that the white
guards did not shoot. There was on black with
a big sombrero, probably from government,
sitting among the wite. This was 1965. Near Alabama.
Outside was a hot tropical nature with zicadas singing.
In New Orleans were big lawns flooded with water.
The white houses and the total silence gave a strong feeling.
Somewhere a lonely man could be seen for a moment.
A swarm of woodpeckers flew by.
